Written and Performed by Pauline Mayers

Co-producer: West Yorkshire Playhouse and The Mayers Ensemble

What If I Told You is a critically acclaimed semi-autobiographical performance by Pauline Mayers, which toured throughout the U.K. and was presented at Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2017.

Lyn Gardener of the Guardian described What If I Told You as an ‘extraordinarily brave, fierce and huggable piece of work that shows the link between the racism of today and the vaginal experiments carried out on black female slaves by US doctor J Marion Sims in the 19th century.’

Carefully balancing dance and theatre, What If I Told You immerses us in Pauline’s world as she invites us to pause, breathe and reconsider the stories we tell about our past and the history on which we build our futures.
